8-week cholesterol management program

When it comes to your cholesterol and risk of heart disease, there are meals that heal and meals that harm. Which meals are you having?

High blood cholesterol is a known risk factor for early stroke or heart attack.  The good news is, there is now a clinically proven diet (Portfolio Diet) to lower your cholesterol by as much as a low dose statin medication, and without any negative side effects. In fact, this diet simultaneously lowers other risk factors for chronic disease, such as high blood pressure and inflammatory markers.

The cholesterol management program is ideal if you have:

  • Newly diagnosed high blood cholesterol

  • Wish to avoid taking a statin medication or prefer to do things more naturally

  • Are motivated to improve your eating habits for the longer term
  • Are already on medication, which needs to be increased as your cholesterol remains high

  • Have never seen a dietitian to get expert advice so you can implement the Portfolio Diet properly
  • Have previously received advice to adopt a low fat, low cholesterol diet

What does it include?

  • 8-week program

  • One-on-one 30 minute weekly sessions with your dietitian

  • Sessions can be in person or via Zoom
  • Handouts on the latest topics relevant to cholesterol lowering and reducing heart disease risk

  • Signed copy of Food as Medicine by Dr Sue Radd, which was awarded Best Health & Nutrition Cookbook in the World by Gourmand, France, in 2016

Topics include:

  1. Introduction to the Portfolio Diet

  2. How to achieve an intake of Portfolio foods at their required therapeutic level

  3. Plant proteins - a focus on legumes and nuts

  4. Wholegrains and dietary fibres

  5. Vegetables with viscous fibre and dark leafy greens

  6. Healthy fats for your blood cholesterol

  7. Portfolio cooking tips

We understand that sometimes people get sick or are unable to attend their planned visit. In such an event please provide at least 24 hours notice to avoid forfeiting a session.
