How a Dietitian Can Help You

A dietitian can help you with the process of lifestyle change. We teach you the important skills of goal setting, self-monitoring, problem solving, relapse prevention and managing potentially tricky situations such as business lunches, take-away meals and eating for a busy lifestyle.

Attending regular follow-up and maintenance visits is the key to achieving long-term lifestyle change. Recent research indicates that these visits provide clients with the support and motivation needed to continue to practice their new behaviours. The frequency of follow up visits you require will be negotiated with you and tailored to meet your personal needs.

In Australia, 67 per cent of men and 52 per cent of women are overweight or obese according to the National Nutrition Survey, placing them at greatly increased risk for many chronic disease such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer. While genes are important, research shows that lifestyle is reponsible for the majority of these cases. At the Nutrition and Wellbeing Clinic, we work with our clients to help them identify and make realistic and permanent changes to their lifestyle to enable weight control.
